Grote:

Gerald Wayne Grote was born in San Antonio Texas on born October 6, 1942. As a teenager, Jerry attended Douglas MacArthur High School where, he played on the baseball team ironically enough as a pitcher, catcher as well as third base. He threw both a no-hitter as well as a a one hitter while in high school. Jerry would spend one year at Trinity University before signing with newly formed Houston Colt .45s as a amateur free agent. The Colt .45′s assigned to his hometown San Antonio Bullets, which was Houston’s double A minor league affiliate. He would get a September call up and made his Major League debut on September 21, 1963. H was used as a late inning defensive replacement for Houston’s everyday catcher, John Bateman. For the season, he appeared in three games that season.

Castillo:
So who’s right here? Castillo is within the rules. But in a camp filled with question marks, this might be the easiest one to answer. Castillo already was on the fringe of the roster, his $6 million contract hardly enough to secure him a spot on the roster. Now, with a chance to impress the new regime and take his job back, Castillo seems to have conceded it already.

Strasburg:
Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg played catch early Saturday morning at Space Coast Stadium, and threw the ball from 45 feet without any problems, according to pitching coach Steve McCatty. Strasburg tried to throw the ball harder than he did his last session, but was told to back off. Strasburg, who is expected to start the season on the disabled list, most likely will have a catch and throw session Monday. The team hasn’t announced a timetable as to when Strasburg will throw off a mound.
